Freedom on the Slopes
In the spirit of the 2024 Paris Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games, we are proud to share the inspiring story of FSD graduate and U.S. Marine Corps veteran James, who competed in Men’s Snowboarding in the Pyeongchang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games. Now, Freedom Service Dog Zena is an everyday game changer in James’s life.

During the month of February, these dedicated teams spent two weeks at the FSD facility bonding, gaining important dog-handling skills, attending outings in the community, and practicing their custom cues.
Volunteer of the Year: Jon Cavanaugh
For Jon, being an FSD foster is much more than volunteering—it’s a profound joy. Since joining the FSD community, Jon has impressively fostered more than 80 service dog hopefuls, proving that heartfelt commitment and dedication can truly make a lasting difference.
